Is PdfTools really free?▼
Yes. PdfTools' main tools are free to use in your browser. In some cases we may apply usage limits to keep the service stable (for example, during peak hours).
Do you save or store my files?▼
No. We don't keep permanent copies of your documents. The file is processed to generate the result and is not kept publicly available afterwards. If you create an account, we only store your email to identify you.
What tools can I use here?▼
You can edit PDFs, merge, split, compress, convert (e.g., images to PDF) and use OCR to make scanned PDFs searchable — plus other tools available in the menu.
Do I need to install any software?▼
No. Everything works online in your browser. Just upload the file and use the tool you need.
Is it safe to upload documents?▼
We process your files only to perform the action you requested and we prioritize privacy. Still, we recommend avoiding extremely sensitive documents in any online service.
Does my original file change?▼
No. PdfTools generates a new file for download. Your original file remains intact on your device.
What happens to my files when I close the tab or leave the editor?▼
When you close the tab or leave the editor, uploaded files are no longer available for download and are removed from temporary processing/storage. Still, if your document is extremely sensitive, we recommend avoiding any online service.
Were the app translations made by AI?▼
Yes. Some translations were generated with the help of AI and may contain inaccuracies. If something feels off in your language, tell us and we'll improve it.
